TL;DR of the game:
In Jet Lag’s Hide And Seek Transit Game , 2-4 players/teams take turns being a Hider, hiding various places in Chicago, and a Seeker, looking for them. The longest time you stay hidden wins.
Slightly more details:
Everyone gets together in the same place. One player/team then takes an hour to hide somewhere publically accessible in Chicago, using a subset of Chicago’s transit system to get there. They will be in a “hiding zone” a quarter mile in radius, centered on a transit stop. The hider’s goal is to stay hidden for as long as possible. Everyone will get a chance to be the hider over the course of the game.
After an hour passes, the other players work together to try and find the hiding person/team. They can ask certain things of the hider via their phones, examples include:
- Are you within x miles of me?
- Please take a picture of the largest body of water near in your hiding zone.
- Is your nearest airport the same as mine?
When the hider answers questions, they can then draw one or more cards from a deck (depending on the question asked). These cards can either give them a way to delay the seekers (eg. “for the next 40 minutes, you can only turn left at intersections”) or a straight “time bonus” to be added onto their time at the end.
It can take a while to find people (I think ~ 4 hours is probably pretty average?), so it may take a couple of play sessions to complete a game (or a really long one).
